Importing Elements
DIP9 recognises the transparency in .png objects so that any element containing transparent areas will have them when imported into the program.
After downloading the elements to your hard drive (see general tutorial) Open DIP9. Create a new canvas or open an existing layout as desired.
Choose File >Open

Browse to the folder where you have saved the embellishment. Select the element and click Open

The element will open to the file list.

Drag the element onto your canvas. The cursor will change as below to tell you where the object will be positioned.

Move or resize the element as desired. (Note the transparent tag hole.)

Saving Elements
Elements that are submitted to Scrapbook-Bytes must meet the guidelines found here http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/elements/element-submission.htm
Before you begin to create your element ensure your canvas is set for the right resolution of 300dpi by selecting File form the toolbar menu >New. Select your chosen size of canvas eg 12x12 for a full background or 4x6 for a page element such as a tag.

Choose View advanced Options .. to adjust the resolution to 300dpi which is the required resolution for all elements submitted to SBB

Create your element on your canvas.
Firstly ensure you have saved a copy in DIP's native format .png plus for your own use
To save an element that contains transparency for sharing at SBB you must save in .png format. This format is different from .png plus
Save the element by selecting File>Save As

Name your file according to the requested format ( Please name files with your name in the filename (ie: moon_charm_amy_edwards.png) Select .png from the drop down menu

Choose Save.
Backgrounds that do not have any transparent areas should be saved in .jpg format at 300 dpi.
Follow the steps above to save the file but select .jpg from the drop down menu. Before saving the file click on Options and ensure that the slider is pushed to 100 – higher quality / larger file.
Choose save.

To save a .jpg preview of either the png or jpg file as requested in the guidelines, go to Format > Resize Image

Scrapbook-Bytes requests image size no larger than 450 wide. Select to change the Pixel Dimensions by manually typing in a width of 450. Ensure Maintain proportions is ticked. Click done.

From the file menu Select Save A Copy As ..name the file as required. Select .jpg as the file type. Click Save.
