Task Commands

Well not quite 101 ways but most functions of DIP can be
accessed in several ways. Learning where certain commands and tools are is an
important part of becoming familiar and comfortable with the program.
DIP’s work area has a Common Task Menu found on the
left side of the workspace, it can be retracted by choosing View on the tool bar
and deselecting Common Tasks leaving a small pictorial menu on the right side of
the workspace. The Tool Bar Menu accessed along the top of the screen has
options similar to those found on the common task menu as well as many
additional commands for various tasks. It is particularly worthwhile to explore
all of the options on the various headings found here as it has tools that are
not found elsewhere. Underneath the tool bar menu a Pictogram or Shortcut
Menu provides quick access to some functions. More commands are shown when
an object is selected. You can also access some commands by right clicking on an
object on the canvas. Each menu is slightly different but some functions overlap
on each.
Listed are some tasks used often in creating a scrapbook
page and the location of each in the menus.

In addition you can use keyboard shortcuts to
perform some tasks. CTRL + A will select all objects in a picture, CTRL + N
will open a new picture. Common Windows shortcuts such as CTRL + C (copy) and
CTRL + V (paste) also apply. For a complete list check DIP’s help files by
typing in keyboard shortcuts.
When you can find the tools you need easily you will find
that it is a less frustrating process to create a computer scrapbook layout,
encouraging creativity and flow.
