How to create a brush for drawing free hand fibers:
1) Create a new file. I used a 2x2 inch square with 300 dpi.
2) Create a new layer.
3) Draw your brush shape. Mine looks a bit like a leaf.

4) Go to edit>define brush. Name your brush whatever you'd like.
5) Make sure your brush tool is selected and go to the brushes menu
6) Select brush tip shape and set your spacing to 75%. (you may have to adjust this depending on your shape)

7) Select shape dynamics. Make sure the control drop down menu under "angle jitter" is set to "direction."

8) Now test your brush. Play with the other brush settings to get the look you want.
9) Save your new brush and have fun!
Hints:
1) beware sharp corners. Depending on your original shape, sharp corners may not flow well. You can play with the original brush shape to rectify that.
2) To get a more realistic fiber look, texturize the fiber layer. Try adding noise or if you have some plug-ins, play with those too.
3) Play with the color dynamics of the brush. Using the hue jitter you can get some great multi-colored fibers
4) the same techniques work with lots of shapes. For a fabulous furry fiber, use the Photoshop pre-set three blade grass brush.
Tweak the dynamics and soon you'll have a great eyelash fiber brush.
I created this technique in order to be able to draw fibers free-hand. Now you can lay fibers on your CGLOs in any way you want. I hope this tutorial works for you. Feel free to email me with any questions.
