PROGRAM BASIC: Creating your first layout- PART ONE

1.Go to File> New in the very top toolbar and you'll be presented with the following options:



2.Name is what you're going to call your layout is entirely optional. This may be left as Untitled-1 if desired.

3.Preset has a drop down menu where you can select the size of your layout. Alternatively, select custom and add the numeric values for the width and height of your layout. Notice numeric values pixels, inches, cm, mm, points, picas and columns.

4.Resolution is the number of pixels per inch on the layout and affects the print quality of the layout. Standard resolution for computer generated layouts is 300 DPI to ensure good print quality.

5.Color Mode should be set to RGB Color (Red Blue Green) and 8 bit

6.Background is down to personal preference

7.Advanced should be left to the default settings.

8.Now that you have a layout you can start importing photos, elements and creating your layout.

*Tip* Always create a new layer when making a background or adding brushwork. This means layers can be deleted specifically to remove a certain line or brushstroke, without deleting the entire layout.
