Resizing photos and elements in PSP
By and © Sandy Drieschener
DOWNLOAD PRINTABLE PDF VERSION HERE.

This tutorial will work for PSP 8 or 9.   It may also work with version 7 with some adjustments.

There are two ways to resize elements or photos using PSP. I will go over both in this tutorial.

This tutorial also only focuses on raster layers not vector layers.   All elements and photos will be raster layers if they are jpg or png file format.

How to resize an element or photo by itself (outside a layout)

Open your element of photo using your browse or open menu.

Once open click on image>resize

You can now resize larger or smaller according to pixel dimension or print size.   You can also adjust the resolution by clearing the resample using box then changing the resolution amount.   Note the resize all layers check box as well.   If you are resizing a layout with many layers you will want to check this or not. This is what the image resize window looks like.

Once your element or photo is resized you can then save it or drag it into another open layout.

How to resize an element or photo inside a layout using the deform tool

Open an element or photo is open either by itself or in another layout.   If your element or photo is in a layout with many layers ensure that you are on the correct layer.

Click on the deform tool from your tool options. It looks like this:

You will then see a red bounding box surround your element or photo. Looks like this:

Move your cursor around the bounding box and you will see it change from 4 dotted arrows in the center of the image to 4 solid arrows on the outer corners. Holding your right mouse button down on any one of the corners and dragging in or out will deform your image while keeping the proportions the same.   Holding your left mouse button down while dragging in or out on any corner or side of the bounding box will deform the element or photo without keeping the proportions.

These are the basics of resizing raster layer elements and photos.
