This tutorial will show you the steps to create a title that appears to have been stamped with paint or ink.

1.  Begin with your layout in progress.

2.  On your layout, create a new vector layer (Layers > New Vector Layer > OK).

3.  Select your Text Tool  and choose a stamped-look font such as “Stamp Act” or “CheltPress Trial.”  For the example, I have used the font Stamp Act.  Be sure to create as vector.

4.  Click on your layout and type in your title.

5.  Convert the vector layer to a raster layer (right-click on Vector layer > Convert to Raster Layer).

6.  Click on the Eraser Tool  and choose a soft eraser such as Camel Hair or similar.  Set the eraser size to a small number (depending on the size of your title; be sure it is small enough to only erase small areas at a time) and set the opacity fairly low (10 – 20).

7.  Begin erasing small areas of your title, giving it the effect of the stamp not having enough ink on it, particularly the edges of each letter and the areas where the font naturally appears distressed.

8.  The title in this example overlaps onto the background paper.  Be sure to erase the title along the line of the top paper to give the appearance of the ink not stamping on the edge of the paper.

9.  Notice that the two background papers have texture.  Apply the same texture to your title.  (Effects > Texture Effects > Texture).  If the texture does not appear because you have used a dark color for the title, try experimenting by adjusting the smoothness and ambience of the texture.

10.  The same effect can be achieved with brush shapes:
