Here is a quick tutorial on making a bottle cap in PSP 8.1

Open a new image about 300x300 pixels, and 300 dpi.

Using your preset shapes tool and a dark brown color, draw with the solid gear shape a large gear.

Convert your vector shape to a raster layer by right clicking on the layer > convert to raster.

Effect>inner bevel
Then choose these settings:   pick a lighter color than your shape for the lighting, you may have to play around.   If you want, play around with the bevel type and see what different looks you can get.

You can also adjust the angle of the lighting to shadow different areas of the cap.   These are just ones that I thought looked good!

Then add a drop shadow to the shape and any text you want to add!
