I
am a work-at-home mom to the best-documented little toddler
in the universe! I started digiscrapping in around November
2004 ~~ I have paper-scrapped for a few years before that.
With DD Nora deep in her 'grab everything I can get my
hands on' phase, the discovery of digital scrapbooking
has saved my sanity!! I still use my paper-scrapping toys
every now & then, and if I am ever lucky enough to
have a craft room, I'll do it again.
In my past life (before baby), I was in software development.
A lot of what I did was to keep the SW developers in line
and on schedule (nerd wrangler, if you will!). I did a
lot of the internal documentation for our processes and
oversaw the code library. So I am a BIG believer in reading
the 'friendly' manual ~~ often I have written the darn
thing!
I now do website development and e-marketing for real
estate agents -- I've been doing that for 3 years now.
Since the birth of my daughter, I have scaled back my
client list considerably and work from my home, occasionally
doing a photo shoot for an agent (love that wide-angle
lens! It paid for itself the first time I used it!!)
That's where I started using MS Publisher and Photoshop
Elements 2.0. I used it mainly to create custom headers
for the agents with stock photography, plus the occasional
site plan and I have been known to 'paint' in grass in
front of a newly constructed home!!
DH gave me PSE 4.0 for Xmas ~~ so I have both on my PC
now ~~ but I have gotten pretty quick with 2.0, so I still
use it for LO's.
I first started corresponding with ShellyRae about getting
a new thread started about other utilities that I can't
live without now that I'm digiscrapping ~~ not the graphics
applications themselves, or even plug-ins, but those nifty
little utilities we all know & love.
My blog (http://lisahoo,blogspot.com) , by the way, is
more of a place for me to do a bit of a brain dump for
neat things I've discovered. A hold over from my past
life that I like to be able to catalog things in some
sort of orderly way. (Ahh, the illusion of order... something
I have missed desperately since the arrival of DD!)
My second business (in my free time, HA!) is as an independent
consultant for The Pampered Chef. In addition to feeding
my need to have the right tools in my kitchen, I also
love that I get to go into someone else's house, share
some of the little discoveries I've made to help them
to get dinner on the table with a minimum of stress, and
get paid for it! (Who doesn't love to be an expert!?!).
That's where my little tag line, "Make Scrapbooks,
Not Dinner" comes from ~~ I guess it should really
be "Make dinner really quickly, so you can get back
to scrapbooking", but that doesn't have the same
ring to it!

FAVORITE TIP: Hmmm, so many.
I guess it would be that although there is so incredibly
much to learn in the world of digital scrapbooking, you
don't have to learn it all to get started. Just learn
at your own pace, and don't worry too much about doing
it 'the right way'. The only way to learn and improve
is to jump right in and create layouts.
STYLE OF SCRAPBOOKING: Simple?
It's really something that is evolving
